Celebrating America Recycles Day with MRP

America Recycles Day Header 2020

Today, November 15, we celebrate America Recycles Day - the only nationally-recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. America Recycles Day educates and encourages individuals on how to be more mindful of what they consume, where and how to properly recycle, and to pledge to recycle more and recycle right in their everyday lives. This year, America Recycles Day highlights the actions we can all take to collectively address the challenges facing our nation’s recycling system, including:

  • Recycling at home, work, school and on the go
  • Buying products made with recycled content
  • Educating and encouraging friends, family, and neighbors to take the #BeRecycled pledge

Beyond these localized, individual actions, Mold-Rite Plastics is proud to announce that it has signed the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment, joining a worldwide collaboration of businesses and governments committed to rethinking the way we design, use and reuse plastics to create a circular economy for plastic. Since 2016, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s New Plastics Economy initiative has rallied businesses and governments behind a positive vision of a circular economy for plastics. At the heart of the New Plastic Economy initiative is a vision of a circular economy for plastic, in which it never becomes waste or pollution.

“We are proud to have signed the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment, an extension of our ongoing sustainability efforts,” notes Dawn Nowicki, Vice President of Business Development and Marketing for Mold-Rite Plastics. “As an environmentally responsible manufacturer of packaging, we take pride in our on-going initiative to delight our customers by offering more sustainable products which reduce the amount of plastics used, provide recyclable options and promote re-use where ever possible. We have continuously invested in our manufacturing facilities to identify technology which conserves energy, uses renewable energy and minimizes environmental impacts to our community and neighbors while we find a way to incorporate and re-use all material and recycle all scrap,” adds Nowicki, who also heads up the global social responsibility efforts for Mold-Rite. We understand that PCR is a key component to ensure that we meet the sustainability goals set forth as a signatory of the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment. Sustainability is also a goal shared by many of our customers, and Mold-Rite Plastics is committed to helping achieve these goals. Our second episode of the Mold-Rite Pro Video Series is devoted to the topic of PCR.

Featuring MRP’s Senior Director of Sales, Wayne Johnson, this new video provides additional insight into PCR & Sustainable Packaging. Additionally, we are excited to announce that we are trending successfully in protocol testing for up to 100% PCR CRC’s. As many customers and CPG’s strive to incorporate PCR, this major development will help brand owners meet their sustainability commitments.

Working collaboratively with these organizations, our customers and suppliers, we are confident that we can play an instrumental role in helping to achieve a world without plastic pollution where all plastic we do need is 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable.
