The safety features of flip top caps and the convenience of the new Weatherchem MegaFlap® closure were important topics at SupplySide West 2013 Global Expo and Conference. With about 12,000 attendees, the show brings together suppliers and buyers that influence several markets including dietary supplements, food, beverage, animal nutrition, personal care and cosmetics. Besides product safety and convenience, trends from this year’s show included adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), probiotics in sports nutrition, and the legal status of botanical compounds in supplements and allergen-free protein. Also, attendees were discussing the partnerships with product manufacturers and others throughout the supply chain to generate co-opportunities between brand owners and suppliers.
As an exhibitor, Mold-Rite |Stull Technologies |Weatherchem showcased its new MegaFlap flip top caps and nutraceutical closures, which are perfect for vitamin and supplement packaging. There was significant interest in the MegaFlap for nutritional powder containers because of its full open orifice for easy access and its unusual built-in scoop.
Since dietary supplement safety was a big topic at the show, the company’s line of child-resistant closures (CRC) were also featured. Mold-Rite produces an Easy-Safe™ CRC that has ergonomic ribs on the side to help with gripping the cap. Stull Technologies manufactures a lightweight version of the push down and turn closure called the StullGuard. This cap is more open on the side and uses less material, so it’s better for the environment but still provides a good grip. In addition, there are more branding opportunities available since the StullGuard is manufactured with two different colors. The two-tone design caught the attention of numerous show attendees who wanted to learn more about it.
This year was important for Mold-Rite |Stull Technologies |Weatherchem because the company has a more comprehensive range of closures to offer, including dispensing closures and continuous thread (CT) closures. So no matter what the application, there’s sure to be a closure within the product portfolio that will enhance the brand as well as the consumer experience.
